Our services

Discretionary Investment Management

Managing your investment portfolio is something that we take extremely seriously, and we have considerable experience in doing so, using General Investment Accounts, ISAs, Pensions and Trusts.  We also act for a number of registered Charities.

Under the Discretionary Investment Management Service, we will first agree a strategy with you, then we take care of the day to day decisions and administration of your investments without needing to obtain your instructions each time.  You will receive formal quarterly reports, and an annual tax summary and we usually offer an annual meeting, but contact can be more frequent if you prefer.

We will monitor the holdings in your account and make changes to the investments when appropriate.  Investment is usually for the medium to longer term, and it is important to ensure that the portfolio remains suitable to meet your unique needs and objectives.

Over time these may change, and we encourage an open dialogue with clients to keep us both up to date, and we will periodically reconfirm the information that we hold about you so that we are aware of any changes and can adjust the investment strategy accordingly.

Our service is usually most appropriate for those who have £250,000 or more to invest, in order that we can achieve an appropriate level of diversification and for the service to be cost effective.

Our Approach

We start getting to know you by talking to you, and we will ask lots of questions about your financial resources and family circumstances.  We listen really hard to your plans, goals and even your dreams.  It is vital that we understand what you are seeking to achieve and what resources you can afford to put to work for you.

Together we will explore your attitude and approach to risk, we will consider your aims and objectives and use our experience to put together a strategy to help meet those goals.  It maybe to produce income or capital growth, or a little of both, and we can choose to blend defensive or growth investments as necessary.

We would then draw up a core asset allocation which diversifies your investments across different types of asset, geographic region and industrial sector.  We are happy to take account of any investment restrictions that you may have and will avoid making any direct investments into those areas.

Raymond James has significant in-house research capability and we have access to numerous external sources of information, research and market commentary.  We also sit on an Investment Committee with other Raymond James Investment Managers, who meet quarterly.  All of this combines to guide our selections of individual holdings for your portfolios.

As an independent practice of Raymond James, we are passionate about not using centralised or model investment portfolios.  There will be some commonality between all our clients’ portfolios since we have a clearly defined process, but to us each client is unique, and their portfolio should reflect this.  As result we will have a limited number of clients, because there are only so many hours in the day and each portfolio and client relationship deserves our time.
